What is the PALI Ubuntu Leadership Doctrine™?

The PALI Ubuntu Leadership Doctrine™ is the proprietary leadership framework of the Pan-African Leadership Institute (PALI), first propounded in 2020 by Founder Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi. It is codified as The Funtunfunefu Framework and serves as the intellectual foundation for all PALI Executive Education and Leadership Development programs.

What is Ubuntu Leadership?

Ubuntu Leadership is leadership rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu - “I am because we are” (umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu). At PALI, we define Ubuntu as humanity towards others expressed as authentic service as the primary object of leadership. It asserts that personhood is acquired through relationship.

What is the difference between Ubuntu Philosophy and the PALI Doctrine?

Ubuntu is the universal philosophy. It is over 1,000 years old and belongs to Africa. The PALI Ubuntu Leadership Doctrine™ is PALI's specific, codified, trademarked interpretation of that philosophy into a teachable system with 4 pillars, a symbol, and a methodology.

What is the Funtunfunefu Framework?

The Funtunfunefu Framework™ is the visual and philosophical core of PALI's doctrine. It is based on the Ghanaian Adinkra symbol Funtunfunefu-Denkyemfunefu - the Siamese-crocodile with two heads and one shared stomach. It symbolizes interdependence, systems thinking, and unity in diversity: though we may compete, we must cooperate to survive.

What qualifications do you look for?

Ideally, you’re in a leadership role at a corporation, non-profit, social club, political party, educational institution or religious group and proficient in English.

How do I apply?

Please complete our application form by clicking on the Enrolment button below or wherever you see it on the site.

How long does the application process take?

We process applications on a rolling basis and aim to respond to applications within a week of receiving the completed form.

What certificate is issued upon completion?

An Advanced Certificate in Leadership is awarded by the Pan-African Leadership Institute upon successful completion of the course.

What is your policy for refunds and deferring?

Fees paid are non-refundable. However, you can defer or transfer to someone else.

To defer your course, you can send us a written request within 1 week (7 days) before the course starts. You have the option to defer the course for up to one year from the date of payment. During this one-year period, you can choose to apply the fee you paid to any other PALI course.

To transfer your fee to another applicant, you can also make a written request within 1 week (7 days) before the course starts. However, the other applicant must have applied and been accepted to an upcoming PALI course.
